A New Jersey native, Stettner trained at the Carnegie Institute of Technology where he received his B.F.A. in painting and sculpture. He then traveled extensively throughout Italy and France, Mexico, California and New Mexico studying the masters and the concepts of time and space. Stettner’s study of myth, anthropology, cosmology, and histories of religion also had a profound impact on his work. He moved to New York City in 1970 where he established the LinkAge Gallery and where he exhibited his paintings and one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture. He later moved to Montclair where he lived and worked until 1978. He now resides in Blairstown with his family and continues to create paintings and furniture.
